2. Stroll through the historic city center

Did you know that Leeuwarden was the capital of the Netherlands from 1584 to 1746? You can still see that to this day when you walk through the beautiful city. Because of this past, you will find many sights in the city center. You will find small, old shopping streets, a city moat, beautiful facades and even two palaces. The Princessehof is the most famous palace. And of course we can’t forget the Oldehove. This tower has been there since 1529 and is even more crooked than the Leaning Tower of Pisa. You can admire it inside and out. Enjoy stunning views of the city at the top. The tower can be visited and climbed for a small fee.

3. Take a boat trip through Leeuwarden
